As I reflect back on all of the planning that was done and all of the prayers that it took to get a single idea from its infancy, to something that didn't sound like complete lunacy, to an actual foundation and then eventually to an event that could raise money so that a young man could have his chance, his shot at greatness, his place in a legacy that will hopefully outlive us all, I feel incredibly humbled and very out of breathe.
Philanthropy, I find, is very hard work, but it is the most rewarding work that I have ever done. And because of the generous donations of so many, this foundation will be able to give an opportunity to a young man, and I know that this opportunity will change his life forever.
The Cinderblock Foundation and I would like to thank all of the gentleman pictured above as well as Jim Murray, Rich Stewart, and Earl Beecham and others that I could not get pictures of, for their heculean efforts, time, energy and of course money, so that we could reach our goal and send our first scholarship recipient, Saquan Gore, to Notre Dame High School this fall for his freshman year.
Many, many, many thanks also to Tom Merrill, Stuart Tryon, Mike Murray, Paris Inman and so many others who wanted to come but could not and sent donations for the cause. Thanks to all of your efforts we are doing the work that needs to be done.
This list of 2005 donors will appear here shortly.
